Artist Website

This project will allow audience members to engage in digital art creation through a dynamic and interactive mural. Audience members will be able to collaboratively manipulate the projected mural using an iPad that runs Tagtool software. Tagtool  allows for multiple people to simultaneously participate in the live animation.

Dr. Nettrice Gaskins is the director of the BAA STEAM Lab.  She majored in Visual Art in high school. She earned a BFA in Computer Graphics with Honors from Pratt Institute and a MFA in Art and Technology from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She earned a doctorate in Digital Media from Georgia Tech in 2014. She uses a variety of digital media tools and platforms such as mobile augmented reality (AR). For this project, we will be using a DIY (Do It Yourself) performative visual instrument to project live, interactive mural painting on the street.

Destiny Palmer is a BAA visual arts faculty member and painter. Palmer earned a BFA in  Painting from Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Palmer has done live video performing, using digital representations of her paintings to narrate stories.  She has collaborated with DJ's and musicians ranging in genres, performing in Boston and New York.

Boston Arts Academy (BAA) is the city’s only public high school for the visual and performing arts serving over 440 students that reflect the diversity of Boston’s neighborhoods. Our graduates exemplify the transformational power of the arts. BAA nurtures the collaborative, creative and culturally empathetic characteristics needed to respond to the challenges of the 21st Century.
