The Circus for Construction is a traveling gallery and event space in search of the knowledge, crafts, and individuals outside of institutions’ traditional reach. Located on the back of a custom-built truck trailer, the Circus draws from a long history of itinerant and heterotopic spaces. The Circus learns from both 19th century traveling sideshows and contemporary food trucks, circumventing the baggage of its brick-and-mortar peers by hitting the road. Operating as part of a global network of galleries in Storefront for Art & Architecture’s WorldWide Storefront project, Circus exhibitions and events will be broadcast on a globally accessible internet platform. This fall, the Circus will travel to three cities to host both local and imported spectacles. Afterward, it will leave behind nothing but flattened grass and memories of wonders from the town down the road, previously forgotten in lieu of digital connectivity.
