Artist Website

THE CLUBHOUSE COMMUNI[T] MAPPING PROJECT is a meaningful blend of art, technology, and community. Constructed by the Flagship Computer Clubhouse, a large-scale MBTA map crafted from EL wire, Circuit Stickers, LED bulbs, and other pieces will showcase monuments within our community, as well as individual memories. The team will begin the night with a map of traditional Boston landmarks, inviting visitors to add stories and mark unique areas of importance throughout the night. Through the innovative incorporation of light and touch sensors, in addition to on-site materials, there will be opportunities for everyone to interact, contributing personal stories and adding a corresponding illuminated marker on the communal map.

The Computer Clubhouse provides a creative and safe out-of-school learning environment where young people from under-represented communities work with adult mentors to explore their own ideas, develop skills, and build confidence in themselves through the use of technology. Using the Flagship Clubhouse as a model, the Computer Clubhouse Network supports community-based Clubhouses around the world, providing over 25,000 youth per year with access to resources, skills, and experiences to help them succeed in their careers, contribute to their communities, and lead outstanding lives.
